Separation of garnet fines was studied by using dry high intensity induced roll magnetic separator. In this study, effect of the particle size on magnetic separation in IRMS was investigated based on different operating variables.
Density of garnet is much bigger than that of the gangue so gravity separation can work to enrich the garnet. Some garnet is weakly magnetic and intensity magnetic separation can work to purify the garnet as well.
Sandblasting Garnet, also known as water cutter sand, is made from calciumaluminium silicate, which is with high hardness and melting point. Through magnetic separation, they appear in red, brown, green etc.
There are 2 beneficiation methods for garnets beneficiation, gravity separation and magnetic separation. In fact, there are only a small amount of garnet can be recovered by magnetic separation, most of the garnet mine still need to use the gravity separation.
